Kelvin Kyung Kun Park is a contemporary artist known for his unique, multi-disciplinary works. His work centers on themes such as the unconscious and technology, the collective and the individual, subjectivity and memory—often materialized through videos, sculptures, and installation.   Notable works include A Dream of Iron (2014), ARMY: 600,000 Portraits (2018), and When Tigers Used to Smoke (2021). His films and installations have been shown at various international venues such as the Berlin International Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival, Taipei Biennale, Busan Biennale, New York MoMA, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Park is the winner of the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art’s Art Spectrum Award, the Berlinale NETPAC Award, and the Best Documentary Award at the Busan International Film Festival. He was also nominated for the MMCA Korea Artist Prize and selected for the Art Basel BMW Art Journey as well as Chanel x Frieze Now & Next. His recent major solo exhibition When Tigers Used to Smoke (2022) was held at the OCAT Museum in Shanghai, leaving a strong impression on the Chinese art scene. Park's latest experimental film, The Bek how The End of Civilization, was selected as the opening film of the 2024 Seoul Independent Film Festival, receiving wide acclaim from both critics and audiences.

박경근은 다양한 매체를 넘나들며 독창적인 시선을 펼치는 시각예술가다. 그의 작업은 무의식과 기술, 집단과 개인, 주체와 기억이라는 주제를 중심으로, 시간과 공간의 흔적을 담은 영상, 조각, 설치 등으로 구성된다. 주요 작품으로는 <철의 꿈>(2014), <군대, 60만의 초상>(2018), <호랑이 담배 피던 시절>(2021) 등이 있으며, 이 작품들은 베를린국제영화제, 부산국제영화제, 뉴욕현대미술관(MoMA), 타이페이 비엔날레, 부산비엔날레, 필라델피아미술관 등에서 상영 및 전시되었다. 그는 베를린국제영화제 넷팩상, 부산국제영화제 최우수 다큐멘터리상, 리움미술관 <아트스펙트럼>상 등을 수상했으며, 국립현대미술관 <올해의 작가상> 후보, 아트바젤 BMW Art Journey 선정, Chanel x Frieze ‘Now & Next’ 선정 등 국내외에서 활발히 활동하며 주목받고 있다. 최근 상하이 OCAT 미술관에서 대규모 개인전 <호랑이 담배 피던 시절> When Tigers Used to Smoke을 개최하여 중국 미술계에 신선한 반향을 일으켰고, 실험적 형식의 신작 <백현진쑈 문명의 끝>은 2024년 서울독립영화제 개막작으로 선정되어 관객과 평단의 호평을 받았다.
